Summer Camp: STARBASE – Rockets, Robotics

 

Most camps are sold out a couple still have space available – Game Show Week, Youth Golf Camp and STARBASE Camps (Rockets, Robotics).  Here are our summer camps – listed in chronological order – offered at the RP Lee Youth Center, at Silver Spruce Golf Course and at STARBASE. 

JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY – offered by Silver Spruce Golf Course

  • One hour per week of dedicated instruction (Wednesdays 9-10 a.m. or 10-11 a.m. June – July).
  • Records will be kept for performance awards.
  • Discounted Private  Junior Golf Lessons (June – August).
  • One free large bucket of range balls per day (June – August, anytime).
  • FREE 9-hole green fee on Sundays after 2 p.m. with a paying adult (June – September).
  • Unlimited use of the Family Course (June –  September).
  • Depending on the golfer’s ability, they will have the opportunity to play in the the Pikes Peak Junior Golf League and represent Silver Spruce Golf Course (June & July). Ages 10-13, 9 holes; ages 14-18, 18 holes.
  • For youths ages 5-18.
  • Cost for the Junior Golf Academy is $75 for each Junior participant.

SOLD OUT! DECADES – offered by the Youth Center

We’re going back in time this week. Each day this week, youth will have the opportunity to experience different periods of time. Youth will explore the Cretaceous period and learn about the cave man lifestyle, then they will dive into the Renaissance period, lastly they will hit the trail with an Oregon Trail adventure.

Dates:  June 10-14
Cost:  $125
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 24 youth.
Register:  Between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. starting April 1 at the RP Lee Youth Center, Bldg. 1555. Call 719-556-7220. NOTE:   Physical and immunizations must be current and turned in at the time of registration.

 

SOLD OUT!  YOUTH BASKETBALL CAMP

Youth Basketball Camp will be taught by former Olympian Chryssandra Hires.

Learn the skills it takes to play basketball and sharpen your fundamentals to become great. This camp is led by North Carolina graduate and two-time Olympian Chryssandra Hires. The camp is geared toward learning the fundamentals of dribbling, passing,  shooting, rebounding and defense with an emphasis on team play, overall game play and basketball concepts. During the camp, youth will be taught the same techniques that elite college basketball players practice every day. Whether you’re a new player or an experienced one looking to advance your skills and confidence, this camp will be great for you.

Dates:  June 10-14
Ages:  7-16
Cost:  $125*
Eligibility:  All camps require a current physical in order to participate.

SOLD OUT! SUPER HERO – offered by the Youth Center

BOOM! POW! WHAM! This week youth will get to create their own super hero and develop its character through art, science and technology.

Dates:  June 17-21
Cost:  $175
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 24 youth.

YOUTH GOLF CAMPS – offered by Silver Spruce Golf Course

The Silver Spruce Golf Academy is proud to offer Junior Golf Camps, which consist of five six-hour classes based on the PGA Sports Academy program.  This series allows instructors more time with students to perfect golf techniques – from the short game to smashing long drives.

Each six-hour session will cover a specific area of the game, and will provide in-depth discussion and demonstrations, plus on-course execution. Camps are designed with serious game improvement in mind.

Dates: 

  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday – Friday, June 24-28.
  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday – Friday, July 29 – August 2.

Cost:  $250, which includes lunch and beverages throughout the day and, of course, first-rate golf instruction.
Ages:  6-17

SOLD OUT! SPARTAN WEEK – offered by the Youth Center

SPARTAAAA! Youth will experience what it is like to live in the days of the Sparta and ancient Greece. A Spartan course will be made in Patriot Park on Friday, June 28, to cap off the week and to celebrate National Mud Day. Please ensure youth bring grubby clothing and footwear so they can participate in the obstacle course.

SOLD OUT! CHEER/DANCE – offered by Youth Sports

The Elite Cheer/Dance Spring Camp offers the highest quality of cheerleading and dance instruction. The camp curriculum includes cheers, sideline chants, dance and time-out routines.

During the week, the cheerleaders will complete a variety of classes. The classes are based on the beginner, intermediate and advanced session, however the curriculum in each changes every day. This way, all our camp participants get an entire week of fun, exciting new activities.

During our cheer classes, campers learn various age appropriate skills including: Motions, Cheers, Chants and Jumps.

During our dance classes our cheerleaders learn a variety of dance routines including traditional cheer dance routines and fight song routines.

SOLD OUT! STAR WARS – offered by the Youth Center

May the Force be with you this week when youth discover all things Star Wars and space. Activities will be a mix of the movie Star Wars and discovery in space.

SOLD OUT! OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WEEK – offered by the Youth Center and Outdoor Recreation

There is a great big world out there, and this week we plan on exploring some of the best parts of it. During Outdoor Adventure Week, youth will learn outdoor adventure skills through different activities such as hiking, rock climbing, biking, stand-up paddle boarding, and rafting.

Permission slips and waivers required. Youth must be proficient swimmers and bikers to attend this camp.

Dates:  July 8-12
Cost:  $175
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 20 youth.

SOLD OUT! NFL PRO FOOTBALL CAMP – offered by Youth Sports

Work out and learn from former and current NFL players. This three-day camp allows you not only to work out, but to get instructions directly from NFL players what it takes to make it. Meet the NFL players and hear their stories, each day ends with an autograph session. This camp teaches football fundamental skills, athletic skills, leadership and character building skills that will help each camp participant to become the very best athlete and person they can be … on and off the field.

GAME SHOW WEEK – offered by the Youth Center

Open Rec Camper, COME ON DOOOOWN! You’re the next contestant for Game Show Week! Youth will participate in some of our very own staff created game shows, as well as create their own.

Dates:  July 15-19
Cost:  $125
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 24 youth.

NEW!  STARBASE STEM CAMPS – offered by STARBASE Academy

Kids will be involved in a thrilling variety of STEM activities that might include robotics, 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD), Newton’s Laws of Motion, and more. Both weeks’ activities will be different, so call us for details.

Cost:  Free!
Ages:  Those going into 5th and 6th grades this fall.
Eligibility:  Open to all DoD dependents who will enter 5th and 6th grades this fall.

SOLD OUT! CRIME SCENE WEEK – offered by the Youth Center

Was it murder, sabotage or a crime of opportunity? Campers will discover this week what it takes to solve a crime scene – everything from searching for clues to the science of DNA. This  week will be adventure packed with suspense around every corner.

Dates:  July 22-26
Cost:  $125
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 24 youth.

SOLD OUT! OLYMPIC WEEK – offered by the Youth Center

What is better than representing your country at the Olympics? Representing your community at Field Day, of course! Youth will spend the week learning bout and practicing Olympic style events for the Field Day at USAFA on Friday, August 2.

Dates:  July 29 – August 2
Cost:  $100
Ages:  9-13
Eligibility:  Dependents of Active Duty, Retiree, Coast Guard, DoD Employees, Contractors and Surviving Dependents.
Class Limit:  Limited to 24 youth.

SOLD OUT! HARRY POTTER – offered by the Youth Center

Enter the wizarding world of Harry Potter!  Youth will experience all things magic this week, from cooking activities to wand making and games of Quiddich. A magical world awaits!

Cost:  $150
Ages:  9-13

SCHOOL AGE SUMMER CAMP

Wait List Registration is open.

  • The School Age Summer Camp Wait List Registration is now open in https://MilitaryChildCare.com.  
  • The program runs from May 28 – August 9, 2019. (Note change of start date.)
  • To apply, families must register in militarychildcare.com (https://militarychildcare.cnic.navy.mil/mcc-consumer/home/viewhome.action) and place their child on the waiting list.  This is the only way that families can request care, as we have gone to the automated system.
