Dig In!

My chives are about five inches high.  I can see strawberry leaves and holly hock greens peaking through the mulch in my garden. And this recent stretch of unseasonably warm weather makes me want to dig in and start planting again.

The Peterson AFB Community Gardens, located at Pete East, can give you that opportunity, too. The 20 garden plots, each a manageable size of 4′ x 8′, offer a place to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit (think strawberries, pumpkin) and even flowers. With a foundation of good quality garden soil specially trucked in, gardeners already have a head start.

A water source is located on site with hoses available for easy watering; and it’s on April through October. Garden tools are also available for use. Garden plots are accessible 24 / 7.

The garden plots are free to eligible users of Peterson AFB; some guidelines apply.

For complete information and to reserve your garden plot, call (719) 556-2767.
