Postponed: Sports & Field Day

SPORTS & FIELD DAY – POSTPONED TO A LATER DATE

Due to Juneteenth (June 19) just recently being declared a federal holiday, and because June 19 falls on a Saturday this year, federal employees will celebrate the holiday on Friday, June 18, and have that day off.

Therefore, we will reschedule SPORTS & FIELD DAY for a later date.

What it is

With a large variety of sports, field events and other fitness challenges available both indoors and outside on Friday, June 18, we know there is something for everyone: Frisbee, archery, soccer, tennis, bike race, pool/billiards, track, cribbage, swimming … even a tug-of-war.

Breakfast Burritos

While the actual sports and field events start at 7 a.m., we expect a lot of participation in the first event of the day – the sale of Breakfast Burritos at 6:30 a.m.  Those Breakfast Burritos will contain eggs, bacon, sausage, potato and cheese, and will cost just $6 each.  They’re made in house by the Colorado Pizza & Sports Grill.  Look for those AWESOME Breakfast Burritos under the pavilion in Capt David Lyon Memorial Park, located on the corner of Peterson Blvd. and Ent Ave. (on the east side of the Aquatic Center).  Quantities limited, so arrive early!

Free Lunch & Live Music

Yes, there really is such a thing as a free lunch. Get yours at Sports & Field Day.  Adding to the fun and festive nature of the day, there will be a free picnic lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the pavilion in Capt David Lyon Memorial Park., along with live music by the popular Sofa Killers.

Event Sponsors

The event’s sponsors will be in the park offering information about their business and free samples where applicable.  Be sure to stop by their table and thank them for their support of this event and other 21FSS events throughout the year.  Sponsors include:  Blue Bell, Ent Credit Union, First Command Financial Services, Orangetheory Fitness, Rocky Mountain VIBES, Springs Home Team, The 719 PCS Team, and USAA. (No federal endorsement of sponsor intended.)

Conclusion of the day

Sports & Field Day concludes with awards presented at 4:15 p.m. in Capt David Lyon Memorial Park.  Individuals and teams will be recognized for their outstanding achievements.
