Sandals and beaches and care! Oh my!!
The Sandals Grande Resort in the beautiful tropics of Saint Lucian is truly an all-inclusive safe haven. And I do mean “all-inclusive!” From pre-arrival to departure and beyond. If you are not sure what “all inclusive” means I will attempt to define. Let’s start with pre-arrival.
One never goes wrong with planning in advance. But don’t plan this scrumptious destination by yourself. Get with your Tickets and Travel office where your bonafide travel agent will be delighted to tell you the best travel times of the year. They will assist you in the best pricing for your stay along with your travel arrangements. Once you’ve selected your dates of luxury, Sandals has a website where you can take your time selecting from a vast assortment of tours and other amenities. So, for our adventure we selected October.
Upon arrival we were met with organized staff. They inform us of all of the many Grande choices of restaurants, pools, entertainment venues, shopping, how to travel from one resort to the next, etc. It was almost overwhelming. We were also informed of the upcoming unexpected Hurricane Matthew that was soon going to be visiting the island. Of course a hurricane is coming THIS weekend!! Just my luck.
We soon met with the Bridal department. These gals went over everything that we had selected from the website. We reviewed flowers, cakes, photographer, and clergy. They advised where my bridal dress was going to go after I wear it into the ocean. And the pool. I figured that if the hurricane wasn’t going to trash my dress I may as well. They toured us around the resort to show us their many nuptial locations. Naturally we selected one by the ocean. Love that direct ocean view!! As far as wedding planning goes this department took it from there. All Jim and I had to do was show up. I knew Jim would show up. He can’t get cold feet in the tropics. As Jim’s luck would have it all the planes were grounded due to the storm.
We grounded ourselves to the main building for a while. The entertainment was live and very good. A buffet was set up; the bar wasn’t too far away. Actually, the restaurants and bars were geographical oddities. Never too far away from where you were. We enjoyed the delicatessens offered at all of the restaurants and bars. Then we leisured around the resort. Leisured. Leisured. Leisured. We drifted from one end to the other. Ebbed and flowed in and out of the stores. No hurries. It was pretty much 5:00pm the entire time we were there. Well, for us anyway. Not so much for the staff. They were exemplifying team work trying to keep up with the storm while keeping up with the guests.
During our stay I don’t think there was any way that we could have received any more attentive service. Whatever we requested it was on hand. I cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had there. As far as our wedding went, it was dream to reality perfect.
Departure went off as scheduled. Jim had tissues right on cue. But our experience wasn’t over just yet. This is the “beyond” part. About a month later our wedding books arrived. They allow us to relive this adventure. Except for the hurricane. We don’t need to relive that.

Disney Cruise: To Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay

We went on a Disney Cruise this past Christmas 2016, and Renate ensured everything went smoothly and as planned without a single hitch! An amazing person. There were 7 of us in our party and thanks to Renate, everyone of us had a great time.
