Whitewater Rafting

Every summer, Outdoor Recreation offers its customers exciting whitewater rafting trips down the Arkansas River, but this wouldn’t be possible without our very own river guides.

This year, Peterson Outdoor Recreation is offering a River Guide Training Program for the 2019 river season, and you might have what it takes to be one of our new river guides.

If interested, we highly recommend that you attend our free informational meeting from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, March 13, when we will detail what River Guide Training is, what you’ll be learning, and what our plans are for the 2019 season. This meeting will be held at Outdoor Recreation, 830 Tinker Street, Bldg. 640 Peterson AFB, CO 80914.

This is an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to become a river guide or to get their start in the Outdoor Recreation industry. Our river guide training program is intended to train guides to our standards for possible employment at Peterson Outdoor Recreation.

Please note:  We cannot guarantee you will be hired as a River Guide (NAF employee), but the experience gained during this training will allow you to become a better river guide. We hire the best and expect a high degree of professionalism from our staff. Being a river guide can be difficult, but the rewards far outweigh the demands.

Attending the Informational Meeting is not required, but highly recommended. If you cannot attend the meeting, contact John for details. To sign up for Guide Training at 719-556-4867 or email Peterson.Outdoor.Rec@us.af.mil.

We would like to thank Julie for helping us get a rafting trip booked for 7 people at the last minute on Friday for a Father’s day vacation. Also the staff for getting us suited up and geared for our trip down the river. Sara, our guide down the river, was amazing, even for a “cheesehead.” It was our first time down the river, and she was able to put us all at ease and we may have even learned a pretty solid “Forward 2.” We look forward to another trip down the river where we can successfully apply a couple of “Back 1s” when needed. The entire family had a blast, and was blown away by the customer service and care we received.    – June 18, 2016

I’d like to commend Willie for a rafting trip he arranged for my EE-LogoECED-200pxlsextended family.  Willie did everything he could to ensure my family reunion of 23 people from 11 to 82 years old was a success.  His communication by email and phone was excellent, he kept me informed of every development,  Willie and his crew waited for my family to process through security and then helped everyone with their equipment with a smile.  I can’t express how happy my family was the service we received.  Keep up the good work!  – Russell, July 2015

“I went whitewater rafting with a group this weekend. I appreciate the affordable price, the awesome customer service and the great time! Thanks for teaming up with Fort Carson to make this happen.”        – Jennifer, July 2013
