HIGH WATER REGULATIONS

During high water season (2200 – 3200 cubic feet per second/cfs), typically in June, rafters must be a minimum of 12 years old and weigh 50 lbs. or more. 

In extreme high water (over 3200 cfs), the Royal Gorge is closed, and rafters must be a minimum of 16 years old and weigh 90 lbs. or more on all other sections of the river.

Note:  All raft trips are subject to change due to a variety of factors including, but not limited to, water levels, safety hazards, weather and age.

 

HALF-DAY RAFTING: BIGHORN SHEEP CANYON in 2022

 

 

As summer temperatures rise, snow melts in the mountains and feeds into our rivers, creating excellent rafting opportunities.  So join Outdoor Recreation for another great summer full of adventurous Whitewater Rafting trips.

Bighorn Sheep Canyon offers incredible views, while navigating rapids the whole family can enjoy.   A must-do trip for everyone!

Cost:  $85/person, $35/person R4R.  Includes round-trip transportation, equipment, lunch, & guided service.
Location:  Bighorn Sheep Canyon.
Restrictions:  Must be at least 8 years old and weigh 50lbs or more. Must be able to swim!
Sign-up Deadline:  By Noon two days prior to the trip.
Dates: As of July 6, space is available for these dates: July 10, 16, 17, August 6, 7.
Time:  7 a.m. – 3 or 4 p.m. (depending on river flow)

FULL-DAY WHITEWATER RAFTING:  ROYAL GORGE

 

 

The Royal Gorge can be viewed from the top of the canyon on one of the world’s largest suspension bridges, or by train along-side the river at the bottom of the canyon.  But the best way to experience the Royal Gorge is from the seat of a raft.  

Enjoy five miles of Bighorn Sheep Canyon and 10 miles of the Royal Gorge in our Full-Day Rafting excursion.  The Royal Gorge offers huge waves, steep technical drops, plunges up to 65 feet per mile, and almost continuous rapids in a narrow gorge with canyon walls over 1,000 feet tall.  Enjoy the best view of the bridge from the water below as you wind your way through class IV-V rapids in this thrill seekers adventure of a lifetime.

Disclaimer:  The Royal Gorge of the Arkansas River in Colorado, at Class IV-V, is considered an advanced whitewater run, and is NOT recommended for first-time rafters.

Cost:  General price, $120/person; R4R price, $60/person.  Cost include roundtrip transportation, equipment, lunch and guided service.

Restrictions:  MUST BE A STRONG SWIMMER!  Must be at least 16 years of age and weigh a minimum of 100 lbs. or more.

NOTE:  The Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) restricts commercial rafting trips through the Royal Gorge after 3200 cfs.  See HIGH WATER REGULATIONS above.
