Whitewater Rafting is THRILLING!  A cross between riding a roller coaster and riding a bucking bronco!

Take a look at world-class whitewater down the famed Royal Gorge, featuring Class III – Class IV whitewater on our trip in June of 2019.

Featuring Class III whitewater.  Rock and roll!

During high water season (2200 – 3200 cubic feet per second/cfs), typically in June, rafters must be a minimum of 12 years old and weigh 50 lbs. or more.

In extreme high water (over 3200 cfs), the Royal Gorge is closed, and rafters must be a minimum of 16 years old and weigh 90 lbs. or more on all other sections of the river.

Note:  All raft trips are subject to change due to a variety of factors including, but not limited to, water levels, safety hazards, weather and age.

  • Whitewater rafting is back!  As summer temperatures rise, snow melts in the mountains and feeds into our rivers, creating excellent rafting opportunities.  So join Outdoor Recreation for another great summer full of adventure.

Bighorn Sheep Canyon offers incredible views, while navigating rapids the whole family can enjoy.   A must-do trip for everyone!

The Royal Gorge can be viewed from the top of the canyon on one of the world’s largest suspension bridges, or by train along side the river at the bottom of the canyon.  But the best way to experience the Royal Gorge is from the seat of a raft.

This trip is not for the faint of heart or for those who are nervous about rafting.  We also do not recommend this trip if this is your first time rafting.

However, for the thrill seekers looking for the most adventure, our Royal Gorge trips offer the most technical and exciting rafting, while floating alongside huge canyon walls.  Come see why the Royal Gorge is one of the largest attractions in Colorado.

I went on one of those MWR whitewater rafting trips. I was blown away by the staff and how much fun they made this. I was made to feel very safe. The whole deal was amazing. This was an epic bucket list thing for me. Thanks for doing this for Airmen.  –  July 26, 2019

I just want to send a BIG THANK YOU to your white water rafting team:  John, Ron, Kathy, and … I don’t remember the fourth member’s name. Dang. But the whole showed us a great time when we went white water rafting down the Royal Gorge. Ron was my group’s guide and was such a well informed guide who threw in a few dad jokes here and there. I definitely look forward to booking another trip with Outdoor Recreation!    – July 28, 2019

We would like to thank Julie for helping us get a rafting trip booked for 7 people at the last minute on Friday for a Father’s day vacation. Also the staff for getting us suited up and geared for our trip down the river. Sara, our guide down the river, was amazing, even for a “cheesehead.” It was our first time down the river, and she was able to put us all at ease and we may have even learned a pretty solid “Forward 2.” We look forward to another trip down the river where we can successfully apply a couple of “Back 1s” when needed. The entire family had a blast, and was blown away by the customer service and care we received.    – June 18, 2016

I’d like to commend Willie for a rafting trip he arranged for my EE-LogoECED-200pxlsextended family.  Willie did everything he could to ensure my family reunion of 23 people from 11 to 82 years old was a success.  His communication by email and phone was excellent, he kept me informed of every development,  Willie and his crew waited for my family to process through security and then helped everyone with their equipment with a smile.  I can’t express how happy my family was the service we received.  Keep up the good work!  – Russell, July 2015

“I went whitewater rafting with a group this weekend. I appreciate the affordable price, the awesome customer service and the great time! Thanks for teaming up with Fort Carson to make this happen.”        – Jennifer, July 2013
