HUNTERS LIKE CAMPERS, TOO

For the first time ever, we are making our campers available for rent beyond the end of October … for hunters!  Call us to learn more, 719-556-4867,  Option #1.

CAMPERS

If you want to get away for the weekend and see all that Colorado has to offer but want to take the comforts of home with you, rent one of our campers and you can have the best of both worlds!

CAMPER ORIENTATION COURSE

Prior to picking up your camper rental, you must attend our Camper Orientation Course. The course is approximately 45 minutes in length and will provide you with an understanding of the systems and features of our campers. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a card to present to ODR staff when picking up your rental. If you plan to attend the Camper Orientation Course the same day as your scheduled pick-up, you must attend the morning session.

  • Date:  Every Thursday through October 29, 2020.
  • Location:  Outdoor Recreation (Bldg 640)
  • Time:  Morning Class – 10 a.m.; Afternoon Class – 3 p.m.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

To tow our campers safely and to abide by Colorado Law, your vehicle must meet the following requirements:

  • Class III Hitch with at least 2” receiver
  • 2” ball on mount with appropriate drop for your vehicle
  • 5,000 lbs. towing capacity
  • 7 way blade electrical plug (must be integrated into vehicles wiring, adapters do not meet this requirement)
  • Brake Controller

If your tow vehicle does not meet all of the above requirements, you will not be able to take the camper.

CAMPER RENTAL POLICIES

  • Rental Period: Campers can be rented May through October.
  • Cancellations: Cancellations within 24 hours will incur a cancellation fee equal to the fee of a 1-day rental. A prorated refund will be provided for the remainder of the fees paid if a new renter can be found for the reserved camper (note this differs from our general cancellation policy). Reservations covering a Federal Holiday will not receive a refund if canceled.
  • Pickup/Dropoff: Renter must allow for at least 30 minutes for thorough inspection when picking up or returning campers. Due to this time requirement, renters must arrive no later than 5 p.m. to pick up/return a camper (note this differs from our general rental policies). 

FISHING BOATS

Enjoy a day full of fishing and sunshine on one of Colorado’s wonderful local reservoirs. Our new 15′ V-Hull fishing boats are the perfect fit for a day with your line in the water.

BOATERS SAFETY

Prior to picking up your boat rental, you must provide proof of completion of either a Colorado Parks and Wildlife or U.S. Coast Guard approved Boater Education Course. BoatEd, BoaterExam, and BoatU.S. offer online courses with content approved by the State of Colorado and NASBLA. Colorado Parks and Wildlife offer in person safety courses. You must present proof of completion of either a Colorado or Coast Guard approved course when you pick up your boat.

Our COVID-19 Response

In response to COVID-19, Peterson Outdoor Rec is taking proactive steps to protect the health and wellbeing of our employees, customers, and community. We are closely monitoring the pandemic as it evolves and are following the recommendations and guidelines of the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, Arkansas River Outfitters Association, PAFB Public Health, Fremont County Public Health Department, and government mandated guidelines.

Outdoor Rec is fully operational.  Our business hours are Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Our Equipment Rental program is up and running, and every effort is made to fully sanitize each piece of rented equipment before it is rented again. Outdoor Adventure Programs is now accepting registrations for trips running this summer, adjustments have been made in our programs in accordance with locally recommended guidelines to protect the health of guides and guests. To reserve rental equipment or sign up for a trip, just call our front counter at 719-556-4867 Opt. 1.

Through all of this uncertainty, the one thing that will never change is our passion and commitment to serving the Peterson AFB community and armed forces of Colorado Springs.
