Predicted inclement weather required the event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, to be rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 21. Despite the last-minute change, an estimated 400 – 450 Peterson AFB family members and guests turned out to enjoy breakfast during the two seating times: 8-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at The Club.
The ballroom was transformed into a North Pole wonderland. Santa’s Workshop* featured holiday-themed arts and crafts, treat stations, holiday games, and a caricature artist. Pete the Elf transported his own workshop to the event, much to the children’s delight.
Jolly ole’ Santa held court, posing for the parent’s cameras, while the little ones bounced on his lap.
*Our thanks to Xfinity, sponsor of Santa’s Workshop, for their generous support.
While they waited in line to see Santa, eager children received holiday giveaways from the sponsor’s elves: flying whirligigs, bendable holiday figures, stickers, and games from Ent; Santa hats and s’mores-covered hot cocoa spoons, courtesy of Xfinity.
A lucky child won a GIANT Christmas stocking filled with toys and candy. The $50 gift card and S’mores kit went to a very excited parent, just in time for last-minute holiday shopping. The prizes were provided by the Armed Forces Benefits Network (AFBN), a sponsor of the event.
